	The Law requires Asbestos to be managed. It is a legal requirement for the person responsible for a building to manage the risk of exposure within the building (The control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002). 'The Duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic premises' comes into force on the 21st of May 2004 The Duty to manage, requires those who manage or who are in control of premises, to: • Take reasonable steps to determine the location of materials containing asbestos fibres • Keep an up to date record of location & condition of these materials • Assess the risk of exposure to these materials • Prepare a plan on how to manage the risks of these materials within the buildings Re - assess annually, or sooner, the asbestos register, & update whenever necessary, providing easily accessible information to anyone who is likely to work on, or disturb materials containing asbestos fibres.
